Apples and Cheese

Two great flavors together are apples and cheese, we eat them typically as a healthy snack and usually find them on appetizer platters as well.  I was inspired by the two components and wanted to come up with an idea for a unique fall dessert. 

Apple cheesecake trifles were born.

The apple part consist of a apple spice cake, the cheese is incorporated into a no-bake cheesecake.  Layered together this pair creates a wonderful trifle just full of flavor and makes for a super light and fun fall dessert.

No bake cheesecake is a great way to incorporate in a trifle because it is quick and easy to prepare and pipes into glasses with ease.  Not to mention, it’s creamy and delicious and it goes super well with the apple spice cake.  Also, you can see the layers in the glass and visually makes you ready to grab that spoon and dive in.

You can prepare this dessert a day in advance and allow it to refrigerate.  Place a dollop of fresh whipped cream on top and a drizzle of caramel sauce and you have a scrumptious new dessert for your fall menu.

The cheesecake is super easy to prepare.

No-Bake Cheesecake

8 oz package of cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 tsp lemon juice
1 TBS sour cream
3/4 cup cream

In a mixing bowl, mix the cream cheese with the sugar till creamy, add the lemon juice and sour cream and mix well.  Mix the cream on low and then mix on medium till creamy.

Assembling The Trifle

Grab 4 glasses.  Fill a piping bag with the cream cheese filling and snip the bottom to open.  Take the apple spice cake and break into chunks.

Layer some of the no bake cheesecake into the bottom of each glass.  Top with some of the crumbled cake, add another layer of the cheesecake and top with more cake.  Refrigerate and just before serving top with a fresh dollop of whipped cream and drizzle with caramel sauce. I put a dried apple chip on top for a little crunch for texture.

Super easy and simple and delicious I might add.  A dessert that will impress your friends and family!
