Welcome to Biscuits to Brownies!
Hi and welcome to my blog! I’m Stacey and its great having you check in. Food has always been a big part of my life as I was raised in the south and it is how we celebrate family, special occasions, memories… well just about everything really. I remember so well just eating such great food and I seemed to always make my way to the dessert table first! Yes, dessert first… always! But baking totally inspires me as well as bring me such joy in both creating and sharing with others.
How I got into cooking and baking:

I love cooking and baking and generally spend 90% of my day in the kitchen, by far the best room in the house! I discovered my love for food after I was married and a brand new military wife. Our second assignment was in Germany back in the 90’s and it was there where I taught myself to cook. At the time, all the resources that were available were cookbooks checked out from the library on our small army post. Also, I found myself loving to bake and experimenting with recipes. Pretty soon my friends and neighbors were having boxes of goodies delivered to them with all my kitchen experiments who were happily agreeing with glee to be my taste testers Over time, it became a real passion that eventually lead me down the path I would pursue professionally.
Baking professionally:
Fine Dining and Catering
I left my profession in the medical field as a Medical Technologist and attended culinary school where I was able to be a part of some really awesome opportunities, one of which was meeting the former White House Pastry Chef, Roland Mesnier, wow what a thrill that was! Upon graduation, I decided to pursue the baking and pastry route and landed my first job as a pastry assistant in one of Washington DC’s top 100 restaurants doing plated desserts and working the dessert line. Afterwards, I ventured into corporate catering where I worked under a US National Pastry Captain/World Pastry Champion learning French dessert technique. I was having the time of my life and learned so much, even had the opportunity to work on some of the thousands of mini desserts for a presidential inaugural party.
Home Baking Business
A few years later, I then branched out and started my own home based baking and cake business and competed in regional cake shows, gingerbread house competition’s, and had recipes published in “Southern Living” and “Taste of Home” magazines. Both which were super exciting.
Why I decided to start a blog:
I love sharing my love of baking and desserts with others and I look forward to sharing with you my creations, some favorites, and some great food finds and even a little food science…… I just can’t fully say goodbye to science I guess.
Come on in, pull up a chair, and have a seat at the table as we enjoy sweet eats together!
