Cookbook Favorites-Gooey and Chewy

Sticky and Messy-No Other Way

Cookbooks are my passion and I always love coming across a fun baking cookbook and this one surely makes the list of favorites.  “Sticky, Chewy, Messy, Gooey” is one of the best dessert cookbooks destined for every baker’s shelf.  This book is chock full an awesome collection of recipes ranging from puddings, cookies, cakes, and pies.  It really is desserts for the serious sweet tooth.

Pastry Chef, Jill O’Connor has a great wit to her writings and her dessert descriptions are fun, all but making you wanting to dive right in to make the recipe.  Also, her pages are decorated very whimsically making turning each page an experience in itself.  Butter, yes butter is used a lot in most of her recipes but oh my goodness, it is worth it!  Her recipes are absolutely delicious and it was fun trying so many.  You may notice a bit of a pattern with the chocolate recipes I tried through the book.  What can I say, confessions of a Chocoholic.

Favorite Recipes:

Chocolate Mayonnaise Cupcakes

Who would have thought mayonnaise could make such a blissful cupcake, but it does!  Absolutely delicious!

Chocolate Caramel-Pecan Souffle Cake

Wow!  This is absolutely chocolate lover’s dream.  When I try various recipes from cookbooks I will usually notate my thoughts on the page to document my comments to how the recipe baked and tasted.  On this page I have the word AMAZING! Need I say more? Gooey in every capacity.

Mountain Meadow Chocolate Fudge Cake

Another great chocolate cake!  Light and chocolatey!

Sugar Crusted Brownie Sundaes

I chuckle because when I made this recipe something went wrong and when they were placed in muffin cups to bake, they actually sunk when removing from the oven (they were supposed to look like muffins).  However, as they say the greatest mistakes turn into to be the best creations.  Surprisingly, they made the perfect brownie bowls with an indentation that was made for a scoop of vanilla ice cream and fudge sauce!  They were outstanding!

Big Blondies

Just another great recipe that is simply delicious, buttery, chewy, and of course gooey.

Everything but the kitchen sink cookies

Cookies loaded with just about everything from your panty.  I love the Krispy rice cereal added to these.

Devils Food Cake with Chocolate Buttercream

Ok, for the finale, I saved the best for last.  This cake, I have no words, it is simply divine on all levels.  Chocolate paradise in every realm if there were such a thing.  It is well worth the time and effort to make this and anyone you share a slice with will love you to pieces.

So, if I haven’t already talked you into grabbing this for your collection, it is well worth the fun baking through some of these great recipes.
