The Cake Cookbook

Cookbook Favorites: The Cake Book by Tish Boyle was one of the first cake cookbooks that I added to my baking library years ago. It’s tried and true and I always love trying a new recipe in her book. They have all proved to be 100% delicious!
What Sold Me
First off, I love the cover, showing a mouth-watering piece of chocolate cake on the front just sold me right there. Totally drew me into checking out what waited beyond the cover.
She had me at chocolate cake, just crazy about it. Once inside, there are so many great recipes in the cake cookbook. Recipes range in categories from coffee cakes, pound, fruit, flowerless, mousses, and even cheesecakes. Also, there is a great section in the back on fillings and frostings. In a nutshell, she has you well covered in basic cakes but also unique flavor combinations that really work well.
Recipes-The Cake Book
Loaded with recipes that are written very nicely and super easy to read and follow. Additionally, she has each recipe categorized as simple to advanced. She does this creatively by showing the number of cake slices according to the level of difficulty. Love that!

Additional Plus
In the front of her book is a great section for any cake baker or decorator that explore:

- Tips
- Troubleshooting
- Cake Pan Sizes
- Cake Decorating
- Piping Tips
- Chocolate Decorations
Some of my Favorites

When I first purchased this book, it was early on in my pursuit of baking and well before culinary school. Excitingly, went through all the recipes and dog-eared so may pages of recipes I wanted to try, there are MANY of them!
I love reading cookbooks much like a can’t-put down fictional mystery. One thing that I also like to do when trying out recipes is writing in my own notes. This usually comes in the form of comments about the recipe and any baking times needed adjusted to my oven.
Over the years I have worked my way through a lot of them and all of them have been super wonderful and delicious! Let me share some of my favorites that you have to try! Oh I might add that my pages are stained with chocolate smears and crinkled pages due to spillages and messes showing my own version of wear and tear.
