A Collection of my Favorites-Whoopie Pies

Whoopie pies are something I discovered in the last 5 years or so. Wasn’t really familiar with them until I visited an Amish bakery where they are gloriously laid out and almost impossible to pass up! Here I put together a collection of my favorites ranging in all colors and flavors.
After trying the traditional chocolate whoopie loaded with a marshmallow filling, I was instantly hooked. Oh mercy, they were so good and just had to learn how to make them.
Gratefully, I was able to get my hands on a Amish cookbook where I found some recipes to experiment with!
Over the course of years, I have developed some favorites that my family, friends, and myself have come to really love. Admittingly, the chocolate whoopie by far, ranks #1.
NOTE: All the chocolate versions use the same chocolate cake recipe!
My Favorites
Chocolate Raspberry and Chocolate Coconut

First up in my collection is a total “TO-DIE-FOR” chocolate raspberry and chocolate coconut version. Chocolate cake envelopes a dreamy raspberry and coconut filling. They are so divine and super simple to make. Check out the recipe here. I haven’t decided which one of these is my favorite?..
Love the contrasting brown and pink on the raspberry version. Coconut gives some great texture both crunchy and chewy.
German Chocolate Whoopies

Second, in this collection was created and inspired by one of my favorite cakes: German Chocolate! Oh, how I love this cake. The filling is so scrumptious and rich, loaded with texture of the coconut and pecans.
The German Chocolate version satisfies both your chocolate craving and ooey gooey, chewy goodness!
Spiced Whoopie Pies

Fall definitely needs a whoopie pie flavor so I developed this one after one of my favorite spiced cupcakes. Lightly sprinkled with fall spices these whoopie pies satisfies your craving for something fall and goes perfect with apple cider!
Super simple recipe and I hope you try this one in the fall and share with all your family and friends.
Birthday Cake Collection

Birthdays definitely need a whoopie pie! These are fun as they are colored with multi-colored sprinkles and filled with a vanilla buttercream for a bright and cheery version of a delicious sandwich cake. You can get the recipe here.
These make perfect gifts and area fun alternative to cupcakes!!
Strawberry Shortcake Collection

Strawberry Shortcake is one of those desserts that totally remind me of summer. With that, this whoopie pie celebrates this dessert with a creamy filling surrounding strawberry jam and sprinkled with a vanilla wafer crumb topping to boot.
Check out the recipe here (good vanilla whoopie recipe) and how to make here.
Mothers Day/Spring Whoopie Pies

Spring… is the inspiration for these pastel colorful yummies, as well as, my mom. Multi colored pies decorated with a crumb topping and sprinkles sandwiched with a vanilla filling makes these guys fun for everyone, including mom! Oh, there is also a delicious blueberry filling inside….
The batter is easily colored and the pastry bag does the work for you in marbling the colors. Learn how to make them here.
Brooklyn Blackout Collection

Oh my goodness, this one is absolutely heavenly!!! Of course, I had to include this showstopper in the collection. These Brooklyn Blackout whoopies are to die for. Replicated after the classic Brooklyn Blackout Cake, filled with chocolate filling and sprinkled with cake crumbs. Totally a chocolate lover’s trifecta dream come true!
Mardi Gras Collection

Finally, a super colorful and totally fun whoopie pie is the Mardi Gras version. It’s an explosion of colors both inside and out. But mostly, love the glitter topping that just showcases celebration!
I hope you try each one of these version and let me know which one you like the most! Currently, I’m always thinking up creative ways for new versions and stay tuned as a few fun ones are coming for fall!
